Private. Wiegandt no. 42. BH;EXnb. Foreparts of a lion and bull
confronted. The motif is that of Anatolian coins attributed to Croesus
or to mints succeeding him and serving the Persian satrapy. Here it
does indicate some Anatolian connection, cognate with the sources of
much else hellenizing in these scarabs, but of earlier inspiration,
and possibly purely Greek, though the separated nb is notable. |
