Oinochoai

Oinochoe: one handled jug.

The mouth may be trefoil (as types 1,2,3 above), round or beaked (type 7 and 10 above); the body slim, squat, truncated or angular. Scholars distinguish many types; of these five are shown here.

The earliest of the common pouring vases in Athenian ~black-figure is the olpe, its profile from lip to foot being a flat S, usually with a broad trefoil mouth, sometimes straight, and with a high-swung handle.
