At Peirithoos' wedding, Centaurs attacked the Lapith men and women, and had to be driven off by the groom and his friend Theseus (a battle known as a Centauromachy).The Lapiths fought both at the feast, with domestic utensils, and later in pitched battle (see Kaineus).
