  • CAVI Collection: Paris, Louvre E 864.
  • CAVI Lemma: BF Tyrrhenian neck amphora. Castellani Painter; Prometheus painter (Bothmer). Third quarter sixth. 550-530.
  • CAVI Subject: A: Apollo and Tityos. B: komos of dancing men.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: A: to right of Artemis' body: Αρτεμις. Similar: Απολ[λ]ον. To right of Leto's shoulder: Γε vac.{1}. To Tityos' lower left: (Τ)ιτυος. To left of Hermes' lower body, facing him: hε̣ρμες, retr. [[Addenda:]] A: Αρτεμις. Απολ[λ]ον. Γε{1}. Τιτυο̣ς{2}. hερμες, retr.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} for the reading see Cairns. I had suspected a (modern?) attempt to write the beginning of Leto's name, with an Ionic lambda, but that was clearly wrong. [[Addenda:]] {1} copied from CVA, as the original can no longer be read on the vase. {2} K. says this is strange: what does he mean? ... Cf. Threatte (1996).
  • CAVI Comments: Very much restored (ABV). [[Addenda:]] A small BF neck amphora. Para. 37/33 erroneously says that Bothmer attributed the vase to Castellani Painter, whence Immerwahr, AttScr (1990), no. 202 and Boardman (1974), fig. 59, also att. to the Castellani Painter. Corrected by Bothmer in CVA, USA 16, New York 4, p. 3, who att. to the Prometheus Painter.
