  • CAVI Collection: London E 773.
  • CAVI Lemma: RF pyxis with lid. From Athens. Unidentified follower of Douris. Second quarter fifth.
  • CAVI Subject: Six women at home (seated woman working wool, with standing companions). One girl looks out from a door, perhaps the bride [Furtw.]).
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Inscriptions above heads: Ιφιγενεια. Δαναε. Ελενε. Κλυταιμε[στ]ρα. Κασσανδρα. One woman is unnamed.
  • CAVI Comments: ARV[2]: Helene is seated. Iphigeneia (at the door) may have been thought of as a bride. Kassandra may be the right-hand woman in the third pair, since she is the more dignified. Kassandra is παρ' ἱστορίαν, the artist may have meant Timandra. Furtwängler points out that the names are all from the Argive royal house. Mixed alphabet. Ionic Gamma and Lambda; Attic sigma. E 772 has figure work by a different hand; the alphabet too is different.
  • CAVI Number: 4649
