  • AVI Record Number: 1286
  • CAVI Collection: Athens, N.M. Acr. ii, 189.
  • CAVI Lemma: Fr. of RF cup. From Athens. Probably Carpenter Painter{1}. Last quarter sixth.
  • CAVI Subject: Int.: youth kissing a girl.
  • CAVI Inscriptions: Int.: above the figures: [h]ο̣ παι[ς καλος]{2}.
  • CAVI Footnotes: {1} "might be unusually delicate work by him," Beazley; Bothmer is more certain (his article is on the Carpenter Painter). {2} so the text of Graef–Langlotz; photo only shows: [---]πα[---]. The photo in GMusJ is clearer than that in Graef–Langlotz: it shows at the left edge two strokes diagonally downward, the lower perhaps curved: this could be a disjointed omicron. For epsilon 7 the top stroke would be missing (enough is preserved to show this). Hence hο παις is more likely than hε παις, Graef–Langlotz's reading.
  • CAVI Number: 1286
  • AVI Bibliography: Graef–Langlotz (1925–33), ii, no. 189, pl. 9. — ARV[2] (1963), 1631. — Bothmer (1986), 13, fig. 11. — Add.[2] (1989), 185.
