- CAVI Collection: Madrid 10,914.
- CAVI Lemma: BF neck amphora. Rycroft Painter. Last quarter sixth.
- CAVI Subject: A: Heracles and Eurystheus, with Artemis and Athena. B: Dionysus with two
maenads.
- CAVI Inscriptions: A: at Artemis' right, starting above the head and curving down: Αρτεμιδος and
καλος{1}. Under the foot, Ε with the top horizontal extended. See Johnston
(1979), 141/16E 4{2}.
- CAVI Footnotes: {1} although the facs. separates the words, the photo shows that they are not
separated; nevertheless the καλος should refer to Heracles. Facs. and photo.:
both refer to CVA. I have no note on Leroux's facs. {2} The mark under foot
should be a Gr. Johnston (1979), p. 216 suggests either lambda plus epsilon or
tau plus epsilon.
- CAVI Comments: Leroux also reads Αρτεμιδος καλος as one inscription, separating the words,
however; he says the inscription is above, betweeen Artemis and Heracles,
vertically down. Tailed rho if the facs. in CVA is to be trusted.
