New zoomable images on Beazley Archive databases

The Beazley Archive is phasing in a new image processing system combined with the enhanced display of large-scale images.  In future the large versions of images on the database will open in separate windows, allowing easier comparison between high-quality photographs. The windows are generated using Open Source IIP Image software, a powerful tool which allows easy zooming and navigation. This facility applies only to new photographs added to the pottery and gems databases, and is available to users on any javascript enabled device.

At present we are in the test phase and we welcome any feedback from users of the database.  Examples of images processed in the new system:
