25. Sacred trees
On these scarabs the main motif is the Phoenician sacred tree, composed of cup-spirals, palmettes and buds, with or without attendant figures; see also one with Bes - 22/X13. The tree figures prominently in Cypro-Phoenician glyptic: Reyes, nos. 219, 235, 260, 277, 281, 288. Cf. also 7/4; 15/56, X3; 22/X13.
