  • CAVI Comments: Ex Hirsch Collection. The two inscriptions must be taken together: χαιρετε, παιδες. CVA suggests that this is perhaps the beginning of a banquet song. Pottier compares Athen. 6.254 (Alexis): χαίρετ' ἄνδρες συμπόται, ὅσων ἀγαθῶν τὴν κύλικα μεστὴν πίομαι (cited by Jahn (1854), p. cxi, n. 799). The vase was first published in CVA.
